インターンシップ

Internship report(Max)

当研究室でのインターンシップを終えたMaxさんから、レポートが届きました!1月から7月までの約6ヶ月間、お疲れ様でした。
We have received a report from Max who has completed his internship in our lab! Thank you very much for your hard work over the 6 months from January to July.

I was a research intern in the Ohmori Group from January to late July 2026. For me, this
journey was much more than a simple internship; it was a milestone in both my academic
career and my personal life.
I am a student at Institut d’Optique Graduate School, a French engineering school specializing
in optics and photonics. I joined the team during my gap year because I wanted to contribute
to a cold-atom experiment, get to work on beautiful physics, and take part in exciting research
projects. During my internship, I worked on the generation and amplification of subnanosecond pulses at 1560 nm. These pulses were then frequency-doubled by secondharmonic generation to 780 nm and used to drive the D2 transition of rubidium ; the first step
of the two-photon Rydberg excitation scheme used in our experiments to access Rydberg
states.
Over these months, I had the opportunity to work on a wide range of topics, including
nonlinear fiber optics, laser physics, and atomic physics. I also gained invaluable
experimental skills and top-notch experience that I know will stay with me throughout my
career.
What made this internship truly special was the people. Everyone was incredibly kind,
welcoming, and supportive. They trusted me enough to let me lead my own experiments
while always being available whenever I needed advice or help. I am deeply grateful to have
worked in such an inspiring and encouraging environment.
This experience also gave me the chance to discover the beauty of Japan. Sharing its culture,
temples, landscapes, and traditions with the team is something I will always cherish. These
past few months have gone by so quickly, largely because I was fortunate enough to make
unforgettable friends here. Okazaki has truly become a second home to me, and I already look
forward to the day when I can come back to work—and laugh—with all of you again.
I would like to sincerely thank everyone who was part of my journey in Japan. Thank you to
the entire Ohmori Group for giving me such an incredible opportunity. I will always be
grateful for everything I learned, the friendships I made, and the memories we created
together.
