Internship Report(Théo)

当研究室でのインターンシップを終えたThéoさんから、レポートが届きました!2月から8月までの約6ヶ月間、お疲れ様でした。
We have received a report from Théo who has completed his internship in our lab! Thank you very much for your hard work over the 6 months from February to August.

I recently finished my research internship at the Ohmori Group, where I spent six months from February to August 2026. I had never done an internship before, so I did not really know what to expect when I arrived in Japan. Looking back now, I could not have hoped for a better first experience.

I worked on the high-vacuum experiment, which is the newest experiment being developed in the group. What I particularly enjoyed was joining the project while it was still at an early stage. I got to see the setup being built step by step and understand how the different parts worked from the beginning. It was a great way to discover experimental physics, since I could follow the development of the experiment rather than arriving when everything was already running. I also had the chance to work with the atoms themselves from time to time, which was definitely one of the most enjoyable parts of the internship.

One of the things I will remember most from these six months is all the amazing people I got to meet. Everyone was extremely welcoming from the moment I arrived, and I quickly felt comfortable in the group. A lot of my favourite memories actually happened outside the lab: we went for dinners, hikes, trips and vacations together, and there always seemed to be something going on. These moments allowed me to discover Japan in a way that would have been impossible as a tourist. I got to experience everyday life, try countless different kinds of food, discover places I would probably never have found on my own, and learn a bit about Japanese culture and language along the way.

I am very grateful to everyone in the Ohmori Group for welcoming me and making these six months so special. Discovering Japan and sharing this experience with everyone I met there has, for now, been the best experience of my life. I really hope I will have the chance to come back someday!
