インターンシップ

Internship Report(Salomé)

当研究室でのインターンシップを終えたSaloméさんから、レポートが届きました!5月から8月までの約4ヶ月間、お疲れ様でした。
We have received a report from Salomé who has completed his internship in our lab! Thank you very much for your hard work over the 4 months from May to August.

I did an internship from May to August 2026 at the Ohmori Group, and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had. During my internship, I worked with Sapna (PhD. Student) on the characterization of a Chirped Bragg Grating (CBG). We wanted to investigate how the properties of the CBG, and therefore its effect on the reflected light, change by applying a temperature gradient along the grating. I had never worked with CBGs before, so the subject was completely new to me, but I really enjoyed working on it and learning about this topic.

Beyond the scientific part, the environment in which I worked was amazing. Everyone in the group was very welcoming, and I met many great people, whether among the other interns, the administrative staff, or the researchers, postdocs, and PhD students. I am particularly grateful to the administrative staff, who helped make it possible for me to come to Japan and stay there for four months.

I also made some really good friends among the other interns, and I think these friendships will last well beyond the end of the internship. I don’t think I would have done nearly as many things if I had not met them. We went climbing, played volleyball (thank you so much, Sato-san!), went to restaurants, visited different places, went on trips, and much more. In the end, I had almost no weekends with nothing planned and very few evenings without something to do!

Finally, staying in Japan for four months allowed me to learn more about Japanese culture through many different experiences: celebrating Tanabata, visiting a junior high school in Okazaki, and taking part in a somen party. I even had the chance to wear a yukata during the Okazaki fireworks.

A huge thank you to everyone at the Ohmori Group, without whom this internship would not have been possible. Going to Japan was a dream of mine, and I am going back to France with wonderful memories. I hope I will get the opportunity to come back at some point!
