当研究室でのインターンシップを終えたSamiさんから、レポートが届きました！2月から8月までの約6ヶ月間、お疲れ様でした。
We have received a report from Sami who has completed his internship in our lab! Thank you very much for your hard work over the 6 months from February to August.

I just finished my internship at the Ohmori Group, from February to August! It was without any doubt the best internship and the best trip of my life. On the internship side, I worked with the quantum computing team, focusing on microwave manipulation. It was a real pleasure learning alongside the team, who taught me a lot about experimental physics, and I could see the progress I made week by week. They also taught me a lot about optics, a field I wasn’t really familiar with before. The working atmosphere was really nice too, as my daily colleagues were actually my friends, which made us more efficient in the lab. I’m grateful to the whole 4G team.
But I didn’t only make friends with the quantum computing team! Every single person in the lab made my stay more enjoyable. Administrative staff, interns, students, researchers… everyone contributed to the lovely atmosphere of the place. The Japanese people especially immersed me in their culture, teaching me some Japanese, recommending places to eat or visit, and most importantly including us in a lot of events: Setsubun, Sakura blossom viewing, fireworks from the rooftop in yukata, a nagashi-somen party, and even the local festival in Chigasaki, where we got to carry the portable shrines (Mikoshi). The visit to Okazaki Junior High School was also an unforgettable experience. None of this would have been possible traveling there as a tourist, and bonding with so many people was the most enjoyable part of the stay.
Living in Okazaki was also a great opportunity to discover Japan, since it sits right between Tokyo and the Kansai region. Over these 6 months I explored Aichi prefecture, skied near Nagano, discovered both big cities and rural Japan, traveled to Kyushu during Golden Week, and still had a fun daily life in Okazaki! The city has a lot of good restaurants, and most of the great food I had during the whole stay was actually few minutes away from my place.
I strongly recommend doing an internship there to anyone who has the chance, as it’s an enriching experience both scientifically and personally. I deeply thank every single person I met during my stay, as they all made it the most enriching experience of my life (so far)!
