Call for interns to develop a quantum computer for cryogenic Rydberg atoms!

We regularly offer Master and Bachelor theses in our group. This is an ideal chance if you want to enter the field of Quantumoptics and Ultracold Quantumgases and learn more about these exciting fields. Within the framework of a Semester thesis you can get first experiences in the everyday work inside our group. For about 6 weeks, you have the opportunity to work on your own project. The semester work will be finished with a short report. Possible topics are typically electronics development, optical setups, programming, vacuum technology and more. It is very helpful if you already bring some experimental experience with you, which you for example can gain in the Advanced Students Labs.

Applications are always welcome, please include a CV, your transcripts, and some lines of motivation.
The next round of projects will be decided on at the end of the current term, so ideally apply soon.

Do not hesitate to contact us and meet our group, we are looking forward to hearing from you!

February 2023 from Kinki University
I was nervous at first, but the atmosphere in the laboratory was very comfortable and I was able to relax and work on the experiments. The program was also a valuable experience for me as it allowed me to discover what I needed to do.
November 2022 from Nara Institute of Science and Technology University
The internship was fascinating not only in terms of the research content but also in terms of the laboratory environment. I was impressed by the mutual interest in research and cooperation between everyone. I was also impressed by the environment where I could practice and learn English even though I was at a Japanese university. At first, I was perplexed by my lack of research content and English skills, but the students and teachers here warmly accepted me and gave me serious guidance to resolve my questions about my research. As a result, I was able to enjoy my daily research and feel growth.
March 2023 from Kyoto University (Republic of Peru🇵🇪)
My Experience at Okazaki Feb-Mar 2023: Having had almost zero experience working in a real experimental lab before, my short-term internship at IMS was a true test of my ability to learn, adapt, and contribute to one of Japan’s most important research facilities for Ultracold Atoms. The Ohmori Group was incredibly supportive and patient with my progress throughout my stay. Likewise, this experience has not only sparked a keen interest in cold atoms but has also given me invaluable insights into the daily workings and challenges of a research lab, expanding my understanding beyond what can be taught in the confines of a classroom.
